So I've been thinking lately...
I've been thinking more and more about how I appear to others. Online, that is. In so doing, I've found something out. Something I'm sure I've noticed before at some point but never truly realized the implications. What I've found is that the way I present myself online doesn't match what I actually do. It does match what I want to do, but that's not what people are interested in. People are most interested in things that are actualized, things that already exist, and less so in potential things, things that may or may not exist at some undefined point. And if they are, it's things that have the best odds of existing at some point, preferably sooner than later.
Now what have I been doing for the past several years? How have I presented myself to the denizens of the Internets? For a while, it was as someone who does a little bit of everything: comics, cartoons, illustrations, fan art, animation, YouTube videos, music, and so on... eventually. Someone whose constantly toiling away in the midst of a grand project or two... or three... or four... or five... or God knows how many, and yet has little, if anything, to show for. Now how would that make someone else feel after discovering that I'm not the content creator they were led to believe I was? Confusing, frustrating, and disappointing I'm sure. It gives the false impression that this is what I do when really it's just what I want to do.
This begs the question, then- What do I actually do?
Having asked myself this question, I decided to look at everything I've actually done (and not just planned to do at some point) and find the commonality betwixt all these actualized works. What I've found is that they all strive to be fun or funny in some way. So this is what I actually do. I am a creator of fun and (sometimes) funny drawings. That's a pretty broad definition and can apply to just about anything: comics, cartoons, animation, illustrations, fan art, videos, you name it. But that's not entirely it. I do, on occasion, venture off into more unfamiliar territory in the spirit of experimentation, of expanding my creative output a little. So I can add to the previous description that I also like to experiment with other mediums of creativity from time to time. I might add my interest in magick and philosophy and whatnot in there also, but seeing as that actually doesn't come up all that often (save for a few deep-thinky tweets here and there), I don't think it's important enough to bring up, at least right at first. One last important point I should make in this "pitch" is my aspirations to creating larger projects, such as the ones I've been spouting off for years now.
So here's who I actually am, not just what I wish I was- I am a creator of drawings that strive to be fun and/or funny while occasionally experimenting with other mediums like music, video, etc. with aspirations of making greater works of art. And this definition needn't be set in stone, either. It'll change over time as I change over time.
This way, properly defining myself will help others better understand what I'm all about, and increase the likelihood of them finding and enjoying my work.
And since this is who I am, that's just what I'm going to do. No more of this piddling away at a "project" that won't see the light of day. Making fun/funny drawings is my project, and it's something you'll be able to see happen in real time. From here on out, I'm going to focus far more on just making fun drawings, regardless of whether it's a comic, a cartoon, an animation, an illustration, a T-shirt design, or what have you (and boy do I have some crazy ideas for some!). And if I can manage it, I'll also work on music and videos and whatnot on the side. And that's not to say I've totally given up on any larger projects either. All of those are still things I want to do, but only when I know I can accomplish them.
Well now, what do you think? Would you, being a wonderful sovereign entity external to myself, agree? Is that a fairly accurate description of what I actually do, from your perspective? If not, what would? I'd love to know what you think.
Also, if you are an aspiring "content creator" or whatever you want to call it, I hope this realization helps you avoid this mistake that I've been making for years.

Why I've Been Inactive Lately (and other things)
Assuming you're still here, you might be wondering where the hell I've been for the past couple of months. Allow me to explain.
Believe it or not, but I've actually been trying to write up a journal entry explaining my lack of activity here for the past month or so. This is probably attempt #5 or #6. Every time I try, I feel like it might come across as sounding a bit condescending to the deviantART community, but I think I've finally found a way to say what I mean without sounding like a total dick. Maybe only, like, 1/3 a dick. And, as always, if you're reading this, chances are I'm not talking about you ;)
To be perfectly honest with you
UPDATE - Don't Worry, I Still Exist
What's up, everyentity? Just poppin' in to let you guys know I'm still existent. I know it's been a while since I've even so much as come up with a new stupid poll to divert your attention away from the fact that I haven't been uploading as much artwork as I properly should be. I apologize for the lack of visual stimuli, I've been in kind of a rut as of late, not really having the energy or motivation to do much of anything. BUT, being bipolar as I seem to be has it's perks, because that just means that this rut won't last forever. In fact, it's already showing signs of diminishing. If that keeps up, that means that *knocks on wood* I'll be a
UPDATE - What I'm Up to at the Moment
Hello everyone, I thought it would be a good idea to let you all in on what I've been up to recently (seeing as that's constantly changing and all), and explain why I haven't been as active as I have been earlier this year.
One reason why I've not been as active here is because I've been active elsewhere- namely the "real" world. What I've been doing recently is making actual physical artwork for the purpose of selling around locally (and perhaps over the Internet at some point) at local art festivals, flea markets, coffee shops, etc. Just little decorative things people might like to hang on their walls or something. One idea I have to do b
Apologies for the Absence...
Hello everyone. Sorry I haven't done anything for the past three or four weeks or so. I've found myself in something of a slump and not feeling quite myself lately. I had gotten into one of those moods where everything I tried to draw kept looking like crap. I have been trying to do stuff, but just wasn't satisfied with any of them.
I think I'm finally starting to slowly come out of this slump, though, so I should get back to uploading stuff pretty soon.
It's weird. It's almost like my psyche cocooned itself earlier this month (or possibly before), and is just now starting to emerge, refreshed and renewed. I'm starting to feel better than I

I agree. You create fun stuff for our eye enjoyment, and though it may take a little time for stuff to come out, it's awesome to see it when it does. So just keep on being you, and I'll be an excited fan waiting with great patience to see what you got in that big brain of yours.
